Malaysia’s Crown Prince Launches Ringgit-Backed Stablecoin RMJDT to Advance Web3 Strategy
Malaysia has entered the digital currency arena with the launch of RMJDT, the country's first ringgit-pegged stablecoin. Spearheaded by Johor's Crown Prince through his telecommunications firm, the initiative aims to bolster financial innovation and accelerate adoption of blockchain-based solutions.
The stablecoin operates under Malaysia's regulatory sandbox framework, established in June 2025 to facilitate controlled testing of financial technologies. This strategic move mirrors corporate treasury approaches seen in cryptocurrency pioneers, though the announcement notably omitted specific blockchain infrastructure details.
Concurrently, Bullish Aim revealed plans for a dedicated treasury entity to support RMJDT's ecosystem. The Johor royal emphasized the holdings' role in ensuring operational stability and alignment with national blockchain objectives—a clear nod to institutional cryptocurrency strategies gaining global traction.
